Carnivores are best known for their sharp teeth and or claws, which give them the ability to both capture and dismember their prey. These animals generally hunt for their prey, although most carnivores are opportunistic eaters and are not afraid to scavenge a meal if the opportunity presents itself. True carnivores live on a diet that consists only of meat, their digestive systems are relatively short and cannot break down tough plant matter. In order to get sufficient vitamins, minerals and fiber many predators eat the digestive system and dung of their vegetarian prey.
