Camarasaurus is one of the most famous and abundant of the long necked dinosaurs. Camarasaurus is a sauropod from the Late Jurassic, Morrison Formation of North America. The Camarasaurids had the largest skulls of all the sauropods. However their neck and tail were not as long as some of their popular cousins. Adult Camarasaurs were generally 35 to 55 feet (11-17 m) long, weighed around 18 tons (16.3 tonnes) and stood between 10 and 15 feet (3 – 5 m) tall at the hips.
This excellent sauropod skull is from a nearly complete Camarasaurus skeleton from the famous Howe Stephens Quarry near Greybull WY. The entire skull was articulated, shows all stages of teeth coming in, and was remarkably well preserved. It is from a small, yet fully grown, Camarasaurus whose species has not yet been described. The skull and skeleton, nicknamed ET, are on display at the Saurier Museum in Aathal, Switzerland. We are indeed fortunate to be able to offer a reproduction of this amazing skull. It comes mounted on a painted steel base.
