Dinictis (often called the false saber-toothed cat) is actually a Nimravid. This is one of several different genera and species of ‘cat’ that lived on what is now North America’s Great Plains during the Oligocene Period. The genus ranged from Colorado to Canada and from Nebraska to Oregon.
This beautifully prepared specimen of an adult Dinictis felina was found in South Dakota. Cast in matrix with the articulated neck vertebra attached.
Available as an unpainted, unmounted cast suitable for some research or reference purposes. Note: some portions of the original fossil may have been scientifically restored.
