These eggs are some of the largest theropod (meat eating) dinosaur eggs found to date. The original fossils, from which these eggs were cast, were collected from the extensive red sandstone beds in the Xixia Basin of Henan Province in east-central China. Two complete nests containing eggs of this size and type have been excavated in China. The paired manner in which the eggs are found suggests that these dinosaurs had paired oviducts, laying two eggs at a time.
These eggs are of the size and appearance that Tyrannosaurus rex may have laid.
Display Replicas are painted by our experts to match the original fossil’s coloration. Solid Color Replicas are unmounted casts suitable for research or reference purposes. It is painted a single color. Note: some portions of the original fossil may have been scientifically restored.
