Details

Many people know that T. rex had only two fingers, but did you know that T. rex actually had three metacarpals? The vestigial remains of the third digit is cleverly tucked away in its palm. The semilunate bone has also been discovered. The semilunate bone is found in the wrist joints of all birds, it is the bone that allows birds to fold their wings. This find is very important as it demonstrates the close family ties between T. rex and its modern day feathered counterparts.

Our gracile T. rex arm cast includes the third metacarpal that was discovered with this specimen.

Make a comparative exhibit with both male and female (gracile and robust) Tyrannosaurus rex arms – or with the arms of other dinosaurs.

Display Replicas are painted by our experts to match the original fossil’s coloration. Note: some portions of the original fossil may have been scientifically restored. Base may vary from picture.
